Inner Call Observes World Alzheimer Day at Budgam BUDGAM, SEPTEMBER 21: The Inner Call, Forum for Evolution, Development and Awareness observed Alzheimer’s Day at a function in Budgam. The function was attended by many people belonging to different walks of life. The program was organized under the banner of Mental Wellness Month, a Campaign for Mental Health Awareness. Experts from The Inner Call Spoke about Mental Health and in particular Alzheimer, its Causes, Symptoms and stressed that if one detects the symptoms in oneself or in other people that he comes into contact with then one should immediately seek specialized counseling. Dr. Imtiyaz Hussain, Consultant Psychiatrist explained that Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive, degenerative disorder that results in loss of memory, thinking and also brings a change in the behavior. It is the most common cause of ‘Dementia’ or loss of intellectual function in people aged sixty and above although it is not a part of ageing. The Additional District Commissioner, Budgam, Jenab G M Bhat, appreciated the effort of the Inner Call, in creating awareness regarding Mental Wellness, and thanked the chairperson, the Inner Call, Ms Roma Wani for bringing awareness programs to Budgam Dristrict from time to time. Mr G M Bhat, elaborated the role of every member working in the system and shared his faith that even at the most difficult times, a person’s “ Complete Trust in God” always helps to bring him out of emotional pain. Chairperson, The Inner Call Ms.Roma Wani while interacting with the audience explained how Dr. Alois Alzheimer, a German physician had presented a case history before a medical board in 1906, regarding a women who suffered from a rear Brain Disorder and therefore the disease is identified as Alzheimer. Ms.Roma Wani, said that although every case is different but there are common warning signs, the most common being forget fullness and at that time itself, consultation with a primary Health Care Professional is very important. Confusion, Poor judgment, changes in Mood , suspicion, withdrawal, disinterest in common activities and difficulty in working with numericals were the other conditions of Alzheimer that she spoke about before thanking the dignitaries, Experts and the audience. A counseling session was also held at the end of the program by encouraging questions from the audience.
