Interviewing chefs might just be one of best jobs in the world! ...because their passion and personality come out through their food, and its so wonderful to get to know people with such big hearts. This month I interviewed John Razzo, owner and creator of J. RAZZOs in Carmel, and now in Westfield. This Italian man delivers food as big as his Italian heart, just like his grandad did in the streets of the Bronx when he would feed the whole neighborhood delicious Italian food on Christmas Day. The lasagna is renown, as big as your head! ...with deep rich tomato and red-wine flavors. The Panko-Crusted Walleye was flaky and fantastic, and the vegetable pesto risotto was like Italian comfort food (Im no Italian, but if I was, this would be my comfort food). And finally the seared chicken with pepperoni and veggies in a white-wine garlic sauce was melt-in-your-mouth wonderful! If you go you have to meet John...if youre wanting real Italian food, this is the kind of man who you hope is behind it...one with a thick accent who loves people as much as he loves food. Cheers! Or I guess, Ciao! …and okay, so the lasagna isnt exactly #weightlossgroup approved. But I am still feeling bounds of energy from stopping all sugar! Kinda crazy what that can do for a person.
