Introduction to Gupta Navratri Ashada Navratri, which is also called Gupt Navratri or Gayatri Navratri is a festival of nine days. This year Gupt Navratri will start on July 09, 2013 . It has a lot of significance as it is dedicated to nine forms of Shakti. It falls in the month of Ashada, which is a hindu month. Ashada is from June to July. This festival is chiefly celebrated not only in North India but also in South India. Its name differs from region to region. In Himachal Pradesh, it is known to be as Guhya Navratri. Varahi Navratri is the name for it in South India where Goddess Varahi is worshipped. Goddess Varahi is known to be as one of the Mantrika of Devi Mahatmya out of seven. The literal meaning of the word "Gupta" is "the hidden". Gupt Navratri is of nine days and these days are meant to worship the nine forms of Shakti. People have a belief that Kings of Gupta dynasty used to celebrate this Navratri. Since then, Navratri has become very popular. Rituals and Celebrations of Gupt Navratri The customs and rituals which are observed in this Navratri are the same which are observed during famous Navratras. People, in this Navratri like to worship the deities of Goddess Durga not only in homes but also in temples. however the difference is that in Gupt Navratri, there is no Ravan Dahan. In this Navratri, first three days are celebrated for the appearance of Durga in form of Kumari, parvati and kali. One ritual during this Navratri is to plant the seeds in the bed of mud on the very first day. Shoots grow up until the ninth day comes when these are flown into the water. Next six days are reserved for other forms of Durga namely, Lakshmi, Saraswati, Lalita etc. The ninth day is known as "Mahanavami". These are some of the mandatory practices performed during Gupt Navratri. However, some of the optional observations in this Navratri are Kanya puja, dandiya and garba. The celebration of this festival ends with the deities of Goddess Durga immersed in the water. Gupt Navratri is considered the best time for the tantra kriyas. If anybody wants to become wealthy, this is the right time for performing rituals for that. Process of Gupt Navratri There is a step by step process to follow during Gupt Navratri. First of all, you should take a bath and wear yellow clothes in the evening time. Around 10 pm, you should sit on a kush asan or wool asan. You should sit facing north direction. Having done that, keep a small table in your front and put a plate on it.. Now, you should draw a swastika or om on it with saffron. Place a Mahalaxmi Yantra on it. After this, you should put a ‘divya shank or conch on it and put some rice which are coloured with saffron into the conch. Then you should light a diya after that. Why Gupt Navratri is important Gupt Navratri this year starts from July 9, 2013. This Navratri specially is very fruitful. So many can be benefitted by chanting the mantras this navratri.for various kinds of problems: 1. If you are having differences with your spouse, there is one mantra you can chant to wipe out the differences. After chanting this mantra, you will surely be benefited. This mantra is "SAB NAR KARAHIN PARASPAR PREETI CHALAHI SWADHARMA NIRAT SHRUTI NEETI" While chanting this mantra you need to put ghee into the fire for 108 times. Now, chants this mantra for 21 times after getting up in the morning. 2. If you want your child to stay away from the evil eyes, you should chant the shlokas of hanuman chalisa and with your left foot apply sindoor on the child’s forehead. 3. If you are unemployed and seek employment you should pray in bhairon temple. It will surely help you in finding the job. 4. For monetary gains, write the name of Ram on the leaf of pipal tree for 9 days and put them in hanuman temple, it can help you. 5. To remain healthy, chant the following mantra for 108 times. This helps you in coming out healthy from so many diseases and your family becomes disease free. "OM JAYANTI MANGLA KAALI BHADRAKAALI KAPALINI DURGA SHAMA SHIVA DHAATRI SWAHA SWADHA NAMOSTUTE" 6. If any problem is arising in your marriage, put one picture of shiv-parwati in your temple and after praying, chant the following mantra for 5 times. "OM SHANKARAI SAKAL-JANMAARJIT-PAAP-VIDHWANSNAY, PURUSHAARTH-CHATUSHTAY-LABHAY CHA PATI ME DEHI KURU KURU SWAHA" Now, we can easily see that Gupt Navratri is one of the important religious festival of Hindus. It is considered very auspicious by them. People have had a belief in it from a very long time. Basically, it is celebrated to please the Goddess Shakti so that there may be no tension in ones life. Even if you have problems, you can get the solutions to those problems by chanting the particular mantras for a particular problem. Hidden (Gupt) Navratras and Remedies to Avoid Home unrest and conflicts In an year, navratras celebrated 4 times. 2 navratras will be celebrated with full fair and passion but rest two is called Gupt (Hidden) navratras. Still in this Gupt (Hidden) Navrartas, all remedies can be performed and will have the same impact as for the main navratra.
