Is there anybody else out there who feels this sweltering July heat and remembers camp meeting? fervent hymns on the piano and altar calls and earnest preaching that made you tremble in the pews--and teenage girls in pretty dresses hoping to get noticed by teenage boys during those long hot sermons--anybody out there remember this or do you just have to grow up in the holiness movement in North Carolina? On a night like this all I want to do is sit down at the piano and bang out "Blessed Assurance"
