It comes with a heavy heart to let everyone know, we lost a friend. Donald Short Stack Oliver, known for his service at the Historical Marysville Cemetery, passed away last night. Little is known at this point about services, except that it was his wishes to be cremated. Any information we receive about fundraising efforts we will post here. Since 2012, Short Stack had called the historical cemetery home. Watching over the plots that had seen decades of vandalism, Donald did a huge service to his community by staying in his trailer, provided by the Marysville Police Department, and overlooking the place 24 hrs a day. Since having him there, vandalism dropped dramatically to nearly none at all. His presence was shown in the love and care he gave to this 15 acre cemetery. Aside from his work in the cemetery, he was known as a prominent positive influence in the homeless community in the Yuba Sutter. Promoting sobriety and self sufficiency, he worked hard to give positive influence to his peers. He will be greatly missed by the hundreds whove visited the cemetery in the last two years, and especially by us volunteers, his family, friends and especially his pups Itty Bitty and Rosie.
