It has been demonstrated by study after study over the years that videotaping police suspect interrogations have tremendous benefits: it is much easier to see when confessions are being coerced, inconsistencies in testimony, violations of rights. Similar results have been seen with the dashboard cams for traffic stops. The same now seems to apply out on the beat as well - with both officers and the public behaving better when they realize that their interaction wont be subject to a he said/he said dispute. ....in Rialto, Calif., where an entire police force is wearing so-called body-mounted cameras, no bigger than pagers, that record everything that transpires between officers and citizens. In the first year after the cameras introduction, the use of force by officers declined 60%, and citizen complaints against police fell 88%.
