It is 4am and I feel like I have just discovered the Holy Grail! - TopicsExpress

It is 4am and I feel like I have just discovered the Holy Grail! In the 2 hours that I have left, I may actually be able to sleep! Just under a year ago, I had recovered most of my range of motion after herniating 2 discs, but the muscles in my back were still spasming. In trying to figure out why, the physical therapist discovered that my Sacro-Illiac (SI) joint was out of alignment. She gave me an exercise to help to get it realigned - sometimes it worked, sometimes not. Since then, the pain continues to come and go. But for the past 6 weeks, my back/hip/leg has been feeling progressively worse. A 90 minute massage would feel wonderful - right up until the moment I had to get up off the table. The pain was not constant, but was very specific to certain motions - moving from laying to sitting to standing, walking stairs, rolling over in bed, etc. And it got worse if I stayed in one position for more than a few minutes. It even got to the point where I could not get up off the floor for after exercising on Wed night. A couple hours ago I gave up trying to sleep and started researching... and found a fabulous site (on google sites) that not only explained the SI Joint dysfunction, but also provided identification and correction exercises (lots of sites tell you what is happening and the long term treatment, up to and including surgery!). Just getting from the bed to the floor so I could try it the exercises made me yelp. But I could see the difference in the length of my leg (the indicator for which side of the joint was out) and when I did the correction exercise, the relief was immediate... and I can feel the muscles in my back, hip, and leg completely relaxing - for the first time in over 6 weeks. Amazing. Truly amazing. Of course, the proof is in the pudding - how long will the relief last and will the exercises work every time? But for now, blessed relief!!!!
