It seems that Coldplays Chris Martin was on backing vocals to U2s new song Iris which is the 5th track on their latest album Songs of Innocence. I had no clue about this reported story. I admit, when I listen again to the song Iris, it does sure sound like Chris Martin! Have a listen yourselves and see if you can spot Chriss voice. Iris sounds like something from Coldplays Ghost Stories album too in my opinion. I also checked that Chris Martin had been thanked by U2 in the credits of the digital booklet download that came with the album off iTunes - not to any song though, just personally thanked by the band by countless others. As a Coldplay fan too, Im shocked I didnt notice that it could potentially be Chris. Although, I would have thought Chriss involvement would have been a bit more well known after the release of the new U2 album. Seems like if Chris did do backing vocals on Iris (which seems very much likely to me) it was a low-key thing. I approve if this if true. I know other U2 fans will not agree with me as U2 fans have mixed feelings on Coldplay/Chris Martin. Thats okay though, everyone is initialed to their own opinion of course. But, personally for me, if this is true, which looks like it is indeed true, Im quite happy about this! Its a great song too of the album! ~ Thomas
