It seems, the move of Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has not gone well with powerful Biju Janata Dal MP Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda. Sources said that Panda, who represents, Odisha’s political very sensitive Kendrapara Parliamentary segment, had proposed to Speaker to differ the RTI Amendment(exempting political parties), and sent it to a Parliamentary Committee for more debate and discussion on this issue. But Speaker’s Office informed the BJD MP that his proposal has been rejected.MP MP claimed in his social networking site Twitter, that the proposal got rejected due to lack of all-party support of Lok Sabha’s Business Advisory Committee. The MP however expressed his anguish over a statement made by a Union Minister under Dr Manmohan Singh’s Cabinet. “Well, I am going to oppose it on the floor of the House, and am just filing an appropriate amendment. I will also insist on a division (vote) so that it becomes a matter of record as to who DID what (irrespective of what they SAID). I urge all of you to add your voices to this. Irrespective of whichever party or political leader you support” Panda quoted as saying his social networking page.(indianewsdiary).
