It was another wet afternoon and evening across much of the region yesterday with several additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms moving rapidly through from the west. Rainfall was heavy within some of the bands with a large swath of an inch or more seen across the mountains in Virginia and West Virginia with some spots seeing 2 inches in the past 24 hours. This helped push 48 hour totals to 3 inches or more in some locations across the far western mountains. However parts of the Piedmont and foothills missed out on much of this needed rainfall, with some spots only seeing a few hundredths of an inch or less in parts of Northwest North Carolina.
