It was revealed to me that my anti-racism stance on issues of police brutality and State sponsored violence against People of Color invokes violence! Dear People, do not confuse violence with vehement opposition to systemic oppression. And please do not lecture me on violence when our taxes pay for the bias policing practices that harm our communities of color. White people, do not lecture me when our collective silence on violence is violence on People of Color all over the world. Do not lecture me unless you can offer to join me in the struggle against this violence and speak vehemently against campaigns of the white political, economic and social institutions that beat up, lock up, and murder our young people of color. Do not ignore your own involvement in and connections to violence. Do not confuse violence of a people revolting whom use agitation or defense as a tactic to resist police brutality or poverty or fractured educational practices. I know where I stand in this system of violence and at times it sounds like fists raging from my mouth when I see white supremacy intertwined with my life. Whites, we cannot be said to be working for peace unless we recognize the truth in our violence…
