Its Sunday so Im sat down with the papers. In the pile is a rag which arrived uninvited on Friday and which calls itself the Sun. Apparently its all about what a fantastic welcoming & inclusive society England is. However a brief perusal of the composite cover representing, I assume, the breadth of the countrys talent and leadership conveyed through this array of English faces causes concern. What dont see here are Keith Vaz, Connie Huq, Salman Rushdie, Shabana Mahmood, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Shami Chakrabarti, Meera Syal - in fact the only Asian face is boxer Amir Khan (incidentally the only name in this list I had to look up). The underlying message here is very chilling, coming as it surely does out of the language of the Tory and Ukip sectors in the immigration debate, bringing a new respectability to racism. It is making the marginalisation of the broader Asian community in England/Britain more and more likely. How long until were making people display a crescent moon on their clothes & houses? Im off into the garden now to follow the example of the good burghers of Liverpool. liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/watch-people-burn-bin-post-7261180
