Its a waste of tax dollars, the critics gleefully said, shooting my idea of a Hiawatha bus route down. Heres some food for thought: 1) The City of SSM has a surplus of ten million dollars. Will creating a new bus route cost ten million dollars? NO. 2) Hiawatha Highlands and Mickingbird Hill Farm are among to of Sault Ste. Maries greatest tourist attractions. And it is my firm belief that those attractions should be accessible to all, not just folks with cars. Tourists who see Hiawatha will have their breath taken away. We need to exploit our naturally gifted attractions. We need to send buses there, it will create revenue. The Hiawatha route is NOT a waste of tax dollars. Not at all.
