Its been a busy week, and I feel the need to tell 2 stories this week just because they are so different and run the spectrum of what I do as a mortgage broker. So heres Story #1:.... Client J calls me and tells me they have been locked out of their home by the sheriff. Yes we have Sheriffs and when a mortgage holder forces a power of sale, it is the sheriff by order of the court that locks you out of your home. You might think you have no recourse or no feasible way to get another mortgage to regain possesion of your home. Fortunately for my new client, they decided to call me. You need to understand before you judge my clients that severe illness of a family member and a heated divorce and a big change to employment all within the last year had landed them in this position. (the client is a single individual, for privacy I use the plural) Step 1, I began a dialogue with the Law Office in charge of the power of sale. I was able to get the pace of sale proceedings slowed down while arranging financing. arranging financing was a little challenging since the mortgage was not the only bill that had gone unpaid and their were judgements as a result of the divorce. Step 2, I arranged to deal with the debt consolidation by bringing in some experts to negotiate debt reduction with some of the creditors. Step 3, Find a lender that is uniquely suited to a client in this situation and bring the parties from step 1 and 2 together with the lender to coordinate a deal. There is only one goal here and that is to get my client back in their home. With all parties on board my client should be back home next week.... and that is not only part of what I do but also why I love doing it.. I get to help people:) Story 2: tell you that one tomorrow.... Someones getting a really cool POOL!
