Its been long since I posted a relationship column with this std 8 education Ive got & today am doin that so, yu gotta suck it up & skim thru it to see if it focuses on yu. And today i will focus on this stage of a relationship, The Power Struggle Stage. This is such a painful time for most couples as the illusion that ‘Romantic love will last forever’ falls away & is replaced with feelings of disappointment & anger. Instead of seein ur similarities (like yu did in the Romance Stage aka The Courtship Stage), yu begin focusing on your differences and your partner’s flaws. So, yu get to work trying to change your partner back into the person you thought they were, or punish them for not being that way or both. Often one partner pulls away & withdraws, needin space… and the other partner needily chases them feeling emotionally deserted. If yu can relate to any of this in ur own relationship, then ur relationship is likely stuck in the Power Struggle Stage. The goal of this stage is to establish ur autonomy [Independence] inside ur relationship, without destroying the love connection btwn yu. This stage can last anywhere from a few months to years and years, depending on the support & guidance yu have and ur willingness to grow up and grow ur relationship. #JusSaying
