Its hard to justify the use of the death penalty when you see - TopicsExpress

Its hard to justify the use of the death penalty when you see cases like this. They were convicted solely on the basis of a coerced confession. The police officer told a mentally disabled 15 year old boy that he would be executed if he didnt confess, so he did. 30 years later, DNA proved they didnt do it. Id love to say that this is rare or that DNA has the power to exonerate all of the innocent parties, but the sad thing is DNA is only available in a small number of cases. If the DNA had not been collected from this scene or had been destroyed (as it is in many cases), they wouldve been executed for a murder they didnt commit.
