Its my understanding that Willie Colons politics are just as mixed up as his apparent legal misadventures at the expense of the innocent. I have no problems believing Ruben Blades innocence is real and authentic, and I know based on personal experiences of my own, which have included ten years of false imprisonment, that there are those who would routinely misuse the criminal courts to satisfy sinister, illegal and, ultimately, hurtful purposes. While I can agree wholeheartedly with Willie Colon in terms of his immense contributions to the world of Latin American music over the course of a lifetime, we will have to agree to disagree on his cynical motivations for the wrongful and hurtful litigation brought against the Panamanian singer, songwriter, actor, Latin jazz musician and activist. What an unfortunate chain of events that justifiably resulted in the complete exoneration of Ruben Blades by the courts—and no doubt much to his satisfaction. “Never stir up litigation.
