Its strange growing old. Certain things piss me off easily and I - TopicsExpress

Its strange growing old. Certain things piss me off easily and I accept it - and sometimes roll with it and use it. Like back when I was a little younger I would hold off saying certain things and now its like, Eh, fu** it. Say it and lets see what happens. Mostly, its in jest though. Maybe to get a reaction from someone asking me a simple question. Why? Well we are too comfortable in our bubble. We have comfort in our conformity. We have a standard set of questions and talking points and a standard set of reactions the we allow out. I like to rattle them a little. Make them squirm - just a tad. I was visiting my ex-wife with my daughter and ran into a lady that knew me and my family. Havent seen her in years. Hell, I didnt even know who she was really. But she asked how my mom and dad were. I dropped my head and bluntly said, Oh. Well, I dont know. They went missing several years ago and no one knows where they are. Then I left it at that, until Carol quickly corrected me. But the look on the ladys face was great. There was an uneasiness in her eyes and a touch of discomfort across her face. And a touch of mustard on her lip too - but I bet she just ate at Orange Julius. I like being old. And I like being me. Every bad and good event in my life has chiseled me into this ugly jerk and I love it. I wouldnt change a thing. I hope I never change or try to conform into what someone thinks I should be. The way I raise my daughters. The way I run my home. What I like and dislike. My beliefs and disbeliefs. Its like trying to squeeze these legs into skinny jeans. They may fit for a little bit but Im going to be tired of them chafing my privates really quickly. What are these kids doing to squeeze into them? Especially the young guys? Are they taping their prepubescent wads down with duct tape and greasing their legs with butter? It baffles me how skinny their legs are. How can they even walk without looking all Frankensteinian? And the kids who skateboard? How can they even kickflip without ripping their seams? Stupid kids.
