Its such a cliché to harp on about the weather, but on what might - TopicsExpress

Its such a cliché to harp on about the weather, but on what might be the coldest week in years, its pretty darned essential to do so. Were not sure if audiences were just tougher in the 1940s when this place was built, or if the architects just thought Eh, lobbies, schmobbies, but we dont have indoor waiting space for hundreds of people pre-movie. We have one main entrance/exit that must stay clear for fire safety and quick exits post-film, so outdoor queues are a fact of ByTowne life. Since we dont want you to turn into ByTownecicles, here are a couple of tips on making a trip to the movies a little bit less cold: 1. Dont think getting here early is super advantageous: We cant let you in until about 30 minutes before showtime, so if you arrive earlier than that, you may have to wait outside. 2. DRESS WARMLY. This should go without saying, but sometimes folks think Well, I only have to walk to/from the car, then dont bundle up as much as they should because they reckon theyll have a nice, warm waiting spot before the film. OH HOW WE WISH WE DID. Dont be a dedicated follower of fashion, get out your wool socks, your warmest thrummed mittens, your fleeciest polar fleece, and maybe some mukluks and save yourself some teeth chattering (and your movie companions some whining). Queuing in the cold for a few minutes aint fun, but it can be less miserable. And, bonus, afterwards, you get to watch a movie and maybe warm your hands by holding a bag of our delicious popcorn or a cup of tea or coffee. And things could be worse: Our poor ushers have to change our frozen marquee when its this cold. Blecch.
