Its the season of blockbuster holiday movies, and perhaps you - TopicsExpress

Its the season of blockbuster holiday movies, and perhaps you ventured out to see Night at the Museum 3....or maybe youve overheard your students talking about this new film. Recent headlines have people talking about the various inaccuracies in this British Museum adventure. As educators, what are your thoughts about this? Should Hollywood be taking these liberties? Is it monumental if the fossilized bones of a T-Rex are portrayed as being part of one museum, but actually live (I use that term loosely!) in a different museum? For those of you who teach about (or have read as a kid) The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, you might recall the inclusion of a Michelangelo sculpture. The Metropolitan Museum of Art never owned a sculpture by Michelangelo. When I worked as an educator at the Met, students excitedly arrived at the Museum and requested to see this sculpture. In my mind, despite this inaccuracy, E.L. Konigsburg was responsible for excitement about the Mets collection, and probably sparked curiosity about the world of museum collections for a countless number of children! What do you think??? As we approach 2015, Id like to wish everyone at JEDLAB a year of happiness, good health, prosperity and fulfillment, sprinkled with creativity, beauty and art! Happy 2015! https://facebook/MummiesandMasterpieces/posts/10152580300607291
