It’s been a couple of days since my last post. Flurry of activity going on at our household; but what else is new. Tomorrow is the BIG DAY. We move into a home that God has provided for us; and we are so grateful for. We still can’t express how blessed we feel. Since the story aired on WSB-TV and 94.9/The Bull last week, our lives have been forever changed. At times it has been completely overwhelming. I think at some point we have all just sat down and cried in disbelief. God’s mercy and love is around every corner we have turned. The people of Johns Creek/Atlanta/Georgia and across the US are wonderful. Yes, there are the negative comments, but for every one of those we have read 20 positive ones. Alex’s story and journey have touched so many lives; and the stories that people have sent have moved us just as much. Alex made two requests when she made the decisions about her health and treatment. One of them was, “Please do not let me ever be forgotten.” I don’t think that will ever happen. As a family, we have always desired to make a difference in this world; especially Alex. We wanted to bring awareness to all those that “suffer silently” with various diseases. Did we want to do it in the manner in which it has; not necessarily. However, God said, “This is how I am going to use you.” So we have embraced the challenges. Today we had a knock on the door. The first thing the lady said was, “You don’t know me and I promise I am not a stalker. I have Crohn’s disease and I saw your story on TV.” We invited her in and had a wonderful visit. She told us that Alex was; and is such an inspiration. I honestly believe it was the other way around. There are more stories like this that I will share at another time. Thank you to everyone that has sent emails, texts, cards, called, visited and just smiled. We are trying to respond to all of you. Please bear with us. Sherri Buell, Greg Buell, Frances Nelson, Kim Queary, Tracy Englund and countless others…mere words cannot express the heartfelt thanks for all of the love and support you have given. Sherri, the countless hours you have spent on setting up Alex’s Facebook page, responding to correspondence and just listening when I would burst into tears will NEVER, EVER, EVER be forgotten. I’ve gone on long enough. Thanks for listening and reading my long and crazy posts. Be sure to check out the new Facebook page, “Beautiful Beyond the Pain. It is not only dedicated to Alex, but those that suffer silently every day. Together we can make a difference.
