It’s better to be patient than powerful My prayer for us today…”Father, I come before you covering all of us who lead others, all of us who work toward success and those we love. As I have meditated on your promises, it is still very much on my heart how you’ve shown us the very clear path to success. We are to seek wisdom. We are to build our lives, families, businesses, ministries and careers on your life-giving virtues. Solomon had such prosperity because he focused on leading with wisdom, not with ego. He had such fame, because he was known for leading with discernment. He had health because he honored the guidelines you’d given for a long life. Let us go into today, my God, focused on honoring you. Let us go into today with loving you and knowing you as the one, true, living God, buried so intensely within our spirits that it causes our decisions to be wise. Your word tells me that we will be full of joy due to loving you and following your ways. It promises we will then enjoy the fruits of our labor and tells how joyful and prosperous we will be. You word gives us a map to achieving these things by saying it is better to be patient than powerful, better to have self-control than to conquer a city. I note, Father, how you have told us that influence nor conquering success is bad, for in actuality you promise these things. You simply tell us not to seek influence or success, but to allow you to deliver them as a result of wisdom, patience and self-control. I ask today, for me and my friends covered by this prayer, for patience and self-control in our behavior. We will then be in awe at the success and influence that comes. Amen.” (Psalm 128: 1&2, Proverbs 16:32)
