Ive always loved Trent Reznor, and I especially agree with what he has to say here about the importance of the experience of actually listening to an album from front to back, and paying it your full attention (beginning at the 8:53 mark). Theres something almost transcendental in finding the subtleties and details you may have missed upon 1st, 2nd, 3rd listens (the Woah...theres still MORE to be heard in this record feeling.) I remember how important the albums I bought as a child/teenager were (most of which still are) to me- and I remember well that inexplicable feeling of listening to an album from top to bottom for the very first time. Its something people dont always take the time to do these days because we have so much music readily available to us...and to miss out on that magical experience is a sad loss indeed. Video lovingly borrowed from the beautiful Sarah Coombs.
