Ive been hearing a lot lately about changing the tuning structure - TopicsExpress

Ive been hearing a lot lately about changing the tuning structure to A=432Hhz vs. A=440Hz; and am a little bit frustrated at the ignorant information circling. A couple of people have shown me youtube videos of these re-tuned pop songs to A=432Hz. The problem here is... theyre completely ignoring the Pythagorean tuning system. Yes, A will equal 432Hz, but every other note will now be incorrectly spaced and not fit into the actual scalar structure... By posting these things on the internet, its convincing people to listen to things through a distorted filter. We are now aware of the alteration that happens from 440Hz to 432Hz, so we are actively listening for a change in the sound. Whereas 432Hz could be the more adequate pitch center, we may never actually know. But one thing is for certain... stop sharing these re-tuned pop songs, because unless you go in with a DAW and rebuild each of the tracks by hand, and re-tune each of them to fit the new scalar structure around 432Hz, then it is a misrepresentation of the actual sonority. Rant over. Kurt Knecht: are you aware of these talks, if so what is your opinion? Colton Hunzeker: you should help me rebuild a pop song using Ableton or Logic X to accurately represent a shift to 432Hz.
