Ive been watching Morning Joe MSNBC listening to the profiling argument. Back in 1988 I had gotten up early on a Sunday morning to make a big pancake breakfast for my girls. I was out of baking powder so I ran up to the local supermarket and just went wearing what I was wearing at home, a cut off pair of sweats and a t shirt with holes in it. I walked in 5 minutes after it opened and kind of wandered around the store. Soon I noticed a very large guy from the meat dept standing behind me. I turned around and he asked can I help you? I thought what is a butcher doing in the baking isle? I looked in the front of the store and saw a cop coming in the front door. I realized he thought I was a bum coming in to steal breakfast. I looked at him and showed him my keys to a brand new Lincoln Town car and showed him my registration. I got angry but realized I looked like vagrant and vagrants shoplift a lot of stuff from these stores. The cop came down the isle and recognized me and laughed. I was the head of the neighborhood crime watch and knew all the cops. We all had a laugh. Now if you look like a banger with your pants down hanging on the corner dont be surprised to attract rude attention from the PD.
