Ive had a number of people lately ask me if Im happy. That in - TopicsExpress

Ive had a number of people lately ask me if Im happy. That in itself is very amusing to me. Especially in light of being homeless, widowed, and unemployed. I do not invoke my constitutional rights to pursue happiness. In fact, I believe pursuing happiness is a waste of time. I will go so far to say that the pursuit of this elusive pot of gold at the end of the proverbial rainbow, is selfish. The words of Christ radiate in my spirit, Seek ye first the Kingdom of God...and all these things will be added to you. The great plea of the Lord to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength doesnt leave much room for the pursuit of personal happiness. I will gladly settle for Gods peace that passes all understanding, and the contentment of being in His will no matter what my circumstances are. And sometimes those circumstances can get pretty uncomfortable. Our heavenly Father isnt concerned about our happiness in THIS world. What He is concerned about, is whether or not we have the image of His Son formed within us while we are here. And that my friends involves a whole lot of molding and shaping through trials and tribulations. The death of our soulish nature releases the sweet fragrance of Christ... IN our sufferings. This very short life you and I have been so graciously granted, is about our ETERNAL existence. God is lovingly and brutally preparing us for our new bodies that will exist in rapturous glory forever. THEN well be happy! The pursuit of God will render eternal happiness, but the pursuit of happiness in this life will render quite the opposite. Paul the apostle said it very well in Philippians chapter 2 verses 21-23, For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose. But I am hard- pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart, and be with Christ, for that is very much better; yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake. Was Paul suicidal? Not hardly! He saw himself as a stranger and an alien in this world and longed to go home to be with his Lord. He sought that which was eternal and was dead to this world. When your a child of God a lot of misery comes from wanting things in this world more than Him. The pursuit of Christ will empower us to have love, joy and peace in the face of all we must go through to be tried, tested, proven, and prepared for our eternal union with Him. Im learning to be happy with that. :-)
