JEFFERSONIAN NEMESIS ... If you contrast the skullduggery of the CONCON versus the idealism of the Declaration of Independence, you may come to the conclusion that the latter is the nemesis of the former. Consider that the Constitution grants dubious powers to the Federal government, allegedly by consent of “the people of the United States.” But based on the Declaration, the federal government created by the Constitution did NOT represent consent of all the people, but only a subset who were landowners, tax payers, and who embraced their civic duties. Not all Americans consented to being restricted in what their lawful money would be, nor accept that the federal government could impair compacts (via bankruptcy), or that their status was reduced to subject citizen. Of course, they were promised a republican form, but we can plainly see that the federal government has tacitly reneged on that promise by perpetrating a great fraud to acquire consent by any means, fair or foul. To this day, there is a controversy over who the original parties to the compact truly are : the states united or the people of the United States. Of course, the only people bound to perform to its terms are those who take an oath to it - such as all elected officials and the military. From the viewpoint of Jeffersonian liberty and independence, the constitution is something far from a marvel or divinely inspired. And the Federalists must cringe when confronted with the ideals of the Declaration. What a strange history Americans are kept unaware of.
