JESUS IS SAME – YESTERDAY TODAY AND FOREVER You of little faith, why are you afraid. Matthew 8: 26 What was the first miracle Jesus did? He turned water into wine. Later He also fed five thousand with only five small loaves of bread and two small fish and then told His disciples to gather up the crumbs. And when they did so they could gather up twelve baskets full. “How could this happen?” we may wonder. Jesus Christ had the power over creation. We read in Matthew 14:25 that He walked on the waters, which means that the water of the lake supported Him without allowing Him to get drowned. This is certainly against the law of nature. In another incident (Matthew 8:23-27) we read that Jesus once again did a miracle over creation by commanding the water and wind to be still. Jesus Christ has given us also the power to perform miracles as well, but the sad thing is we seldom use it. Suzzanne Pillans writes how she and her team members witnessed a miracle when they exercised the power Jesus had given to them. In 1983 the team conducted a youth camp in South Africa. More children attended than those who had registered, so they feared shortage of food. The whole team fell down on their knees and prayed to God to meet the need miraculously and they were astounded to see all the boys and girls who attended the camp had their stomachful. More than this their team as such witnessed a supernatural event then. Suzanne writes, “The camp ended on Sunday evening and the seventeen of us who organized the camp stayed on until Monday morning as we had a 200-kilometre drive to reach the nearest town. Our host prayed over our breakfast and seeing only a small amount of cereal in the cereal box decided to give us a spoonful each. She then began to spoon the cereal into the seventeen bowls and seeing there was still some left, carried on spooning and spooning until there were seventeen bowls full of cereal and still the same amount in the cereal box. Only then did we realize that a miracle had happened.” Dear friends, let us not just read the Word God but let us learn to put into practice the great power that it contains. Let us exercise the power Jesus has give us and witness great miracles in our live
