*** JOB OPPORTUNITY *** Program Staff Boys & Girls Club of Ventura Job Summary: Company Boys & Girls Club of Ventura Location Ventura, CA 93003 Industries Education Sports and Physical Recreation Nonprofit Charitable Organizations Job Type Part Time Employee Years of Experience 1+ to 2 Years Education Level Some College Coursework Completed Career Level Student Salary 9.00 - 11.00 $ /hour The Boys & Girls Club of Ventura is looking for energetic individuals who enjoy making a difference in the lives of youth. Interested applicants must possess organizational, motivational, written and oral communication skills. They must possess the ability to market activities to members, be able to implement a variety of recreational games and activities and be able to incorporate them into a recreational or educational setting. They also must be able to engage Club members of all ages in a variety of programs and activities and have classroom control skills. Applicants must possess an AA degree, have completed 48 college units from an accredited college, or have a Paraeducator Certificate from the Ventura Unified School District. Possession of a Class “C” license for over one year, and a clean driver’s record is preferred as it is a pre-requisite to any staff who might apply for a Youth Bus license in the future. Job Segments Include: 1. Planning, supervising and conducting recreational & educational activities for Club members. 2. Promoting recreational and educational activities through announcements, flyers and bulletin boards. 3. Leading activities in an upbeat, enthusiastic manner. Promoting fair play, good morals and a high self-esteem for all members. 4. Submitting requisitions for needed program supplies. 5. Submitting all necessary program information for inclusion in quarterly activities calendar, web page, grants or other administrative reports. 6. Inspecting program area and submitting maintenance requests to the Branch Director as needed. Maintaining equipment in good working condition. 7. Attaining CPR/First Aid Certification if required. 8. Assisting with all club-wide special events. 9. Performing all other duties deemed necessary by the Branch Director to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization. Applicants must have the physical skills abilities for the working conditions that are required to perform the essential duties of this position, as required by the American with Disabilities Act. The physical skills might include sitting or standing for long periods of time, walking and carrying or lifting items up to 40 pounds at one time, squatting, bending over, twisting, or repetitive motions. These activities might be in addition to other physical skills that are needed to complete the job description.
