JOY AS TELECEL CUTS TARIFFS Telecel Zimbabwe has unveiled a pre-paid service platform that will discount call tariffs by as much as 37 percent across all networks. The service, Telecel Go, which significantly reduces call costs below the regulatory standard charge, has been allowed a three-month run pending Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz) approval for permanent tariff change. “With Telecel Go, Telecel has become the first network to apply this reduced rate across all networks allowing its customers to enjoy the benefit on all calls and messages,” said Telecel’s chief commercial officer Ashraf El Guindy. He said the motive was to increase the company’s market share, currently standing at above 30 percent. Telecel is Zimbabwe second largest wireless network operator with nearly three million subscribers. “In terms of market share, Telecel Go should give us a headstart in 2014, going forward. We have brought convenience to our customers as we are looking into changes in the economy to enable us to support them,” said El Guindy. Speaking at the same occasion, Telecel’s senior marketing manager Clever Isaya said Telecel Go removes the boundaries between networks while at the same time the tariff structure supports sustainable growth of the both subscribers and the business. “We are the first mobile network operator to break from boundaries. We have no circles. What we have done is offering choice and freedom to our subscribers for them to get value for their money,” he said. Under the new offering, there are two options namely, Telecel Go Juic’r, which provides a standard low rate of 15 cents per minute to all networks no matter when you call. Telecel Go Flexi, has per minute charges of 19 cents, 11 cents and 9 cents to all networks, depending on whether you make your call during the day or at night. All calls are charged per second giving customers the maximum convenience and the best guaranteed rate. Data and short message services (SMS) charges, at 11 cents and 9 cents respectively, remain the same for both plans. Charges can be further reduced through optional purchasing voice bundles and SMS bundles, which can be used across all networks. Data bundles and international voice bundles can also be purchased. Telecel has over the years been known for reducing charges and making services even more affordable for its subscribers. It has done this in the past through various promotions, which has made it possible for subscribers to make calls at below the standard charge set by Potraz. daily news
