James Maude Ac Hallcroft Bridge Pool Island and Outer (6hrs) Saturday 30th May 2014 Weather: Warm day with overcast skies, slight occasional breeze. Today saw the James Maudes lads off to fish the mighty Hallcroft. Bridge pool was to be our home for the day with inner and outer so plenty of room for all, always a great welcome and a cracking breakfast, with another great turnout of 24 anglers looking to bag a big one on a pool that is renowned for its big fish, so with tackle beefed up who would take the spoils. Previous matches have thrown the winner from the inner pegs but coming off the back of a spawning session rumour had it that the fish had spawned and remained in the outer regions of the pool, our very own venue expert Dave Sewell had predicted that the winner would come from the outer with no takers when he offer the bet. So with all the necessaries done it was time to do battle as the 24 made their way to their respected pegs, big weights can be produced in the last two hours so with all anglers feeling their way into the match it was apparent that a cautious approach was being had by the fish with peaks and troughs during the day, but when the elastic did stretch it was hit and hold as these fish really do fight. So the usual work shop rules applied to all during the course of the day as rigs were smashed, one man who did make the best of his bay 3 on the outer peg was back in form Kyle Wood fishing into the bay with a pellet feed and cat meat approach Kyle bagged a respectable 59lb-3oz. Well done Kyle. Venue expert Dave Sewell fishing from peg 11 on the outer was out to prove a point, Dave lost grasp of what would have been a winning weight when a good sized Carp tore the hook through his landing net only for the fish to escape back into the water costing Dave to glory weighing in with 58lb-10oz for second place. Well done Dave. Andy Topham took third slot also fishing from the outer on peg 26 with a very close 54lb-4oz. Well done Andy. So Dave’s prediction was right with the top three coming from the outer. Fourth place and best weight off the inner went to Kev Brown finding his form once again with another 50+ weight of 53lb-11oz from peg 23 inner. Well done Kev. Feelings go out to Alan Slack who fished a cracking match taking 49lb-9oz and lost as much again from peg 52 on the outer only to find he had fished the wrong peg as he drew peg 53, so a red letter day for Alan only to have his letter sent back by return post. Biggest fish of the day went to Tony Smith weighing in 29lb-2oz which included an 18lb-12oz Mirror Carp. The results are as follows: Kyle wood 59lb-3oz peg 3 outer Dave Sewell 58lb-10 oz peg 11 outer Andy Topham 54lb-4oz peg 26 outer Kev Brown 53lb-11oz peg 23 inner Alan Slack 49lb-9oz peg 52 outer (disqualified) Pete Jackson 43lb-12oz peg 39 outer Dave Johnson 40lb-11oz peg 35 outer Gary Butcher 39lb-5oz peg 16 inner Paul Davies 34lb-9oz peg 10 inner (guest) Pete Lambert 33lb-15oz peg 46 outer Johnny Evans 33lb-10oz peg 15 outer Terry Cheeseman 33lb-5oz peg 19 inner Dave Lilliman 32lb-2oz peg 1 inner Paul Skeldon 30lb-6oz peg 22 outer Tony Smith 29lb-2oz peg 8 outer Ian Carr 21lb-1oz peg 18 outer Dean Collingham 16lb-14oz peg 7 inner Billy Harrison 15lb-4oz peg 58 outer Brian Cox 13lb-14oz peg 26 inner Shaun Green 13lb-10oz peg 31 outer Sean Hanrahan 13lb peg 4 inner Terry Wiggins 10lb-11oz peg 13 inner Lenny Burton 8lb-7oz peg 43 outer Lawrence Butcher 0.14oz peg 50 outer All anglers must weigh to gain Premiership and Championship points.
