Je suis Charlie, more so in the sense that their lives should not - TopicsExpress

Je suis Charlie, more so in the sense that their lives should not have been taken. But my friend Farhia Tato says it best: 1. I’m already annoyed at this “Je suis Charlie” stuff. Like, please, let’s not pretend this newspapers was some kind of tireless guardian of freedom of speech instead of one of the big proponents of Islamophobia in France. All their recent success was thanks to their Islamophobia. The murders are awful and unjustifiable, but don’t make some symbol out of this racist and islamophobic crap that claims to be a newspapers. 2. Lets be real. The reason why islamophobia is so outright, blatant, and unfiltered is because its more widely accepted. Nobody gets doxxed for being islamophobic. Nobody loses their jobs or gets into scandals because theyre islamophobic… people let it happen because it doesnt affect them or hurt them. Nobody is going to lose their sponsors for calling muslims terrorists and everyone knows this. 3. Please stop calling terrorists ‘muslims’ because no matter what they claim to believe, you should not validate it. You should not recognize their actions as islamic. You should not associate their violent extremities with the values of the millions of peaceful muslims around the world. You should not be forcing real muslims to have to constantly reaffirm their identities. 4. Dont forget that the KKK is a (white) christian terror group thats been murdering & harassing black people for decades— but other christians arent expected to apologize for them - yet muslims have to apologize for muslim terrorists.
