Jeetan Ram Majhi, a man from Mushahar Community, one of the most marginalised communities among Dalits ( Mahadalit) will be the new chief minister of Bihar, if the governor calls him to form the new government. It is not governors prerogative as the power equations in Delhi have changed, it will take some time. However, the decision of Janata Dal ( U) is absolutely great in symbolism and trump card. Mushahars are one of the most marginalised communities in UP and Bihar. Their number in Bihar is more and hence some of them are MLAs there but in UP, it would be difficult to find even a village Sarpanch belonging to Mushahar community. Hope Jeetan Manjhis elevation to Chief Ministers post will instill a sense of dignity and self respect among the most marginalised communities in both in Uttar Pradesh and Biihar.
