"Jehovah" is the best known English pronunciation of the divine name as found in the Hebrew Scriptures or Old Testament of the Bible. However, the name "Yahweh" is favored by many Hebrew scholars. The oldest Hebrew manuscripts present the name of God in the form of four consonants, commonly called the Tetragrammaton which may be transliterated into English as YHWH or JHVH.
