Johnny is 10 and has juvenile diabetes. He needs his insulin - TopicsExpress

Johnny is 10 and has juvenile diabetes. He needs his insulin injection. Sally is 8 and has ADHD. She needs her afternoon meds. Billy is 5 and cut his hand open on the playground. He cut it pretty deep and needs immediate care. Javier is 10 and has seizures. You never no when he will have an episode. Anna Grace is 7 and started running a fever. The flu has been going around school. Meanwhile, there are 20+ other kids in the classroom and the teacher is all alone. Its 1:45 PM and all our school nurses are gone for the day. The county commissioners wouldnt pay for that last hour of pay per day to keep them in the school the full day. So who is medically trained to treat these children? No one! But hey, we have WebMD to take care of them. It will be easy peasy to make sure all of these littles are taken care of! Furthermore, how many well trained nurses will be able to afford to stay in their current jobs when their hours were just cut substantially? I wonder how many will have to leave our little ones to take a job where they can get more hours at better pay? I cant count the number of times, Nurse Sarah has had to call me with a fever, a bump on the head or an ear ache. Thankfully, my children are healthy on the whole scheme of life, but what about these other children who need a nurse readily available? It amazes me that these 3 commissioners who voted no to funding our school nurses just dont get what our children need! And that my friends is why they will be out of office in 3 months, 26 days, 1 hour and 20 minutes!
