June 9: SO I TOLD THIS STORY AND SCOTT SAID HE HAD NEVER HEARD IT........ I was on my way to the Greenway Trail in Statesboro yesterday morning and I sent Scott and Wesley a text asking them to join me for a cool down walk after my run. It was about 7:15, but I seem to remember that when you have young children in the house.....youre probably up at 7 anyway. I told them I was parking behind the Olive Garden. Imagine my surprise when I saw Scott waiting on me when I finished my run. One of the things we talked about was finding time to exercise. I suggested that sometimes we make up excuses when we really dont want to do something. For instance.....I really want to go for a walk......but I just dont have the time. RULE #1 - If you want to do something....MAKE TIME. For instance. We all watch t.v. every night. One of my favorite lines is, I cant believe that we get 157 channels, and there is nothing to watch! So for 3 or 4 hours every night, I sit with a remote switching channels. But in my defense......I can watch 14 programs at the same time. How about if I used 20 - 30 of those minutes and went for a walk around the block? That would be good for my peace of mind, good for my health and I might see that I really dont need to search through 157 channels every 45 seconds. How about early in the morning? I know you have to get the kids ready for camp, get dressed and get your spouse ready for work, cook breakfast, fix those lunches, and ______________ all day. (You can fill in the blank!) If you are getting up at 6:45 and still have time to get all of this done.....why not try getting up at 6:00 and get in a 30 minute walk before your 6:45 rush hour begins?????? I believe it was that wise and mysterious visitor from the Far East, Yarrellim, who once said. Its all about our priorities......if we think its important....then we will geter done! I think that last part was Larry the Cable Guy. My point is that Scott found time Sunday morning at 8 a.m. to join me for about 30 minutes....that is about 1 1/2 miles. I hope Scott makes time today for another walk. Before you know it...walking will become a habit that hell be glad he started....and so will I!!!!! Now get up and atem before it gets too hot.....and you know youll be glad you did.....and of course......so will I!!!!!!! Ill see ya on the roads,
