June: Since it is after midnight tonight I can officially say Grant made it through this entire day without throwing up! This is the first day since we started round 5 that Grant has not tossed his cookies. We are doing round the clock meds and still filling him with fluids to try to keep him fever free this round. Grant has been happy of course to be home, but he is still recovering from the chemo and hasnt been too energized to do much of anything, but who would when even on all these meds you are still nauseous? We are trying to get him to eat more, Grant changes his mind a lot about things appealing to him and we are praying his appetite begins to pick up again very soon. Grant did have his best buddy Clay over for a brief visit this morning, but I guess I was too busy mommy chatting for the hour to take a picture of the two of them playing together. The most exciting thing that happened today (besides the no throw up) was Grants game ball from Saturdays UGA game arrived autographed by Coach Mark Richt; thank you Coach Richt, CHOA, and UGA for the honor of being the recipient this week! While we switched out fluids, Grant felt well enough to venture outside to have a few moments with his new football. We are all so happy to be home to enjoy this fall weather, leaves are starting to change, and it is so nice to have all the doors and windows open and just let the fresh air flow through the house; it does our soul well to soak up these fall days. We have a lot of big things that will be decided this month, Grant will have another round of scans in a couple weeks and then once the results are in from everything we will decide what the next course of action will be in his treatment. Based on the scans last month, Grant has too much evidence of the cancer on scans to qualify for stem cell transplant so we will be taking a different path that will hopefully get him to the stem cell transplant point. But a different path as of now means we have this month hopefully to just enjoy being a family; to get Grant really feeling better; to enjoy trick-or-treating; and even to celebrate his 3rd birthday (November 2nd!) at home. All we can do is live in the moment of today knowing we have the grace we need for today. Today brought us no throw up, a beautiful sunset with a rising full moon, today was a good day! Pray for the upswing to continue and Grants appetite to pick up and continue the praise for our time at home which we are so thankful for! Now for some cuteness of a boy and a football and some new baby cousins thrown in the mix. #graceforgrant #markricht #ugafootball
