Just FYI, on tis date in 1871, Republicans in Congress passed legislation outlawing the Ku Klux Klan, which was a domestic terrorist group founded by Democrats. The legislation came in response to a wave of violence by Democrats against blacks in the post-Civil War South. In one such incident, on September 28, 1868, a mob of Democrats massacred nearly 300 African-American Republicans in Opelousas, Louisiana. The attacks began when racist Democrats attacked a newspaper editor, a white Republican and schoolteacher for ex-slaves. After several African-Americans rushed to defend their friend, Democrats went on a rampage, killing nearly 300 African-Americans in revenge. (The National Rifle Association was created in part to defend the Second Amendment right of African Americans to keep and bear arms to defend themselves against murderous Democrats such as the KKK.) In the more than a century since, the Democratic Party eventually moved away from overt violence but continues to oppress African Americans by deliberately trapping them in multi-generational dependence on government.
