I see you weren’t here for Christmas but the lights are up for the next 2 days. Ironic. You’ll be pleased to know that since you last visited ‘your’ property that Cornwall Council have rubber-stamped the plans for the much-needed extra 52,00 homes in Cornwall. Whilst there has been no economic growth within the Duchy since the early 80’s it appears that we need more homes to sustain the ‘growth’ of our homeland. In the 70’s there were 300,000 people that lived here. Today that figure is over 500,000. The approval from the council will mean that our population will swell again from 500,000 plus to 700,000 by 2025. Are there any jobs to sustain that influx? No. None. So why is the population swelling and why are we becoming poorer and poorer? You know the answer. So what will happen-I’m sure you know very well-the sustainable homes will, once again be sold to second homeowners thus perpetuating the cancer. Congratulations- the golden goose has been well and truly cooked-in my lifetime I will see the death of my homeland. You, amongst your colleagues owned 29,000 second homes at the end of 2013 which we could have used to house local people. You have taken up any available housing in the area and just like De Beers do with diamonds made it impossible for local people to own homes where they grew up. If you have any morals whatsoever please think long and hard about these points-it’s all very well coming down here for a couple of days a month but this is my home. Your next door neighbour.
