Just arrived! An unique donation was recently made by the company that produces the 1/32 scale B-17G plastic kit, the HK Models from Hong-Kong. These are TWO (2) these kits that will be used for a build for our Museum exhibition. It was sent to us by the company CEO, Mr. Neil Jan. Our sincere thanks come also to Mr. Scott T. Hards, the CEO of the Hobby Link Japan (hlj) who arranged that donation for me... We have two distinguished and well experienced modelers to finish these models for us, of course with all Eduard accessories (like Brassin engines, wheels, interior, exterior photo-etch, landing flaps, Brassin guns, etc.). These two gentlemen are Martin Nademlejnsky (CZ, with assistance of his son Jakub) and Jean-Luc Formery (FR). Both want to finish their builds before September 2014 for the 70th Anniversary of the battle. Subject for one model is already selected with no doubts. It will be the “Heaven Can Wait” of my late friend, co-pilot Jack W. Janssen. This plane/model will be displayed with the entire damage from the 11th September 1944. The marking of the second model is still not selected. Of course it will be any of ships that took part in “our” air battle. There are “limitations” by the variant of the waist windows and tail turret that does not have alternatives in the kit. So these must be of late production blocks of the G series. Selected favorites are 43-38161 XR-O “Oombree-Ago” (the plane that Lt. Hieronymus brought back to crashland in France), The XR-H “The Reluctant Dragon” or the LD-S “Lady Geraldine” (to honor Don Jones crew, where we have several friends). What is your suggestion? Thanks again to Scott and Neil! JanZ
