Just before I was due to have my glucose intolerant testing, I saw - TopicsExpress

Just before I was due to have my glucose intolerant testing, I saw this article. foodbabe/2014/05/13/shocking-why-are-doctors-recommending-this-toxic-drink/ Truthfully, had I not read this article, I would have read the Glucola drink label and been super skeptical about its ingredients, but drank it and moved on with the testing. Instead, I called my doctor’s office and asked if I had any other alternatives and was told no. And not taking the test WAS NOT AN OPTION…for the well-being of my baby. I drank the freaking drink. I don’t drink sodas because of the nasty gunk in it, why would my doctor FORCE me to drink this. Orange or Punch was my options. I chose the fruit punch. It had all the ingredients listed as the orange flavor in the article, but instead of yellow #6, it had red dye #40. I failed the test. A week later I had to go back for the dreaded 3 hour Glucose Tolerant Test. A little bit of Google digging showed that there is a lesser evil of the Glucola drink which contains only 4 ingredients and dye free! (Food Babe let down!) Granted, the drink didn’t have the best quality, non-GMO ingredients in it, and still contained natural flavoring and sodium benzoate, it did not contain BVO or dyes or Brominate. For the 3 hour test, I asked for the lemon-lime flavor (the lesser of the 3 evils) at my doctor’s office and got it. I’m not sure why this wasn’t initially offered. (Doctor let down!) I had no other choice. I wasn’t allowed to use a more natural option like using maple syrup or the jelly bean option that some of my friends were able to use. Until pregnant women have a better option for this testing, know that there is a small thing that you can do. Ask for the lemon-lime flavor. Please pass this on to all the soon to be Mommies out there. There is nothing worse than knowingly putting something that may be potentially harmful to your unborn child in your body. Oh wait! There is. It really sucks to feel like you’re forced to do so without other options. P.S. I passed the Glucose Tolerant 3 Hour test.
