Just returned from an incredible Caribbean island vacation with our dear friends the Hackenbergers. We visited St Maarten (Dutch side), St Martin (French side) and Anguilla (British). I took 500 photos and have posted around 100 of them. (Everyone knows how I love to snap pics). Id highly recommend a getaway to St Maarten as a beautiful blue water destination and a tropical paradise. And as a bonus, it has something other islands do not, and that is Maho Beach (or Airport Beach as some call it). Due to the unique proximity of jumbo airliners arriving at minimal altitude, crowds gather on the beach to witness the amazing sight of the planes just mere feet above their heads. Many think the photos of this event are photoshopped, but I can confirm now that they are not at all. Its all real and it happens all day long as plane after plane arrive over this beautiful crystal beach on onto the short 7,500 ft runway. At that same location, planes taking off is just as exciting due to the jet blast from the engines, to the point there are even danger signs posted along the fence line warning those who seek the thrill that standing in the wind force area may result in injury or even death. But we did it, and its really not that much of a risk, but you need to hold that fence with all your might! But is a cool experience in which we obviously survived. So thumbs up on all counts for St Maarten. Relaxing, Good food, amazing adventure, pristine beauty and the nicest people!
