Just some stray observations about Legend of Korra for anyone who cares. 1) If there is one thing that Legend of Korra does better than its predecessor it is how it depicts family. The original series briefly dealt with Tophs relationship with her parents and Sokka and Kataras relationship with their family was touched on in a couple of episodes but it never really felt like any of it mattered. It didnt serve as any sort of characterization and only came up when the plot demanded it. Where as in Legend of Korra, every character has a complicated relationship with their family and you can see how it molded each character into who they are. The Bumi- Kya- Tenzin relationship is the one I am the most interested by and I hope we get a graphic novel with them that takes place while Aang is still alive. 2) I dont think A:TLA or LoK gets enough credit for being a world where only four super powers exist and the writers are consistently finding new ways to make those powers interesting. 3)This is a problem I have with a lot of Fantasy / Sci-fi but I never understood why in these worlds special solitary cells are built to house incredibly dangerous criminals. Regardless of how you feel about capital punishment surely it is easier to just kill them. We dont know all the details in LoK, so lets shift gears. Why bother building that plastic prison for Magneto? Why not just hang him? What purpose does keeping him alive serve? Oh, right. The plot demands it.
