Just spent the last week in Ashville North Carolina, beer city USA, and no idle boast. Unfortunately I was there at a corrosion conference but did fit in some sight seeing and tasting. First photo is the hotel. It was built by the Vanderbilts in the late 1800s. Very upmarket until 240 corrosion scientist and engineers descended on it (about 10% of capacity). Its halfway up the mountains behind Ashville (view in 2nd photo). I drove all the way down (1000 miles) so I could bring my bike and ride some of the Blue Ridge Parkway. But its closed! Still, did get to do about 15 miles of it.
