Just to CLEAR things up.....The media needs to drop this narrative that Gays are banned from marching in the St Patricks Day parade.....Gays arent barred from marching, they are banned from marching as a separate group because those groups arent what the parade is about-- just the same as there are no anti-Gay groups, no Republicans, no Democrats, no pro-life or pro-choice groups. Irish and Christian organizations only. Youll note that even the FDNY and NYPD proper dont even march in the parade; their Emerald Societies and Holy Name Societies are the ones in the line of march. The parade isnt about discrimination, or anything of the like-- its about Saint Patrick.
