KASHIF RANTS THEY SEE MISOGYNY, WE SEE UPPER CASTE TANTRUMS ....... Recently an advertisement promoting a mobile phone service providing company was subject to lot of criticism for its regressive concept...the ad shows a woman who is a boss in the office to her husband but chooses to cook dinner at home for him........ One of my Dalit friends sent me a message wondering what the fuss is all about ? Upon my pointing to the regressive message of the advert., he replied to me rather amusingly that.........what is the problem of upper castes ? ...why dont they thank their luck to have been born in privileged ( or comparatively privileged) upper caste families, which enables them access to English medium education and with that, fancy jobs ........and now they complain about misogyny and all, while millions of poor Indians struggle for food.... upon my asking that what makes him think that the family depicted in this advet. are not Dalits ? and further arent Dalit and poor women also victim of misogyny ?...his reply was Dalits and poor are victims of only our centuries of social system, with which comes crushing poverty and everything else is just a bonus.....and as for the family depicted in the advert being a modern Dalit Indian family......hmmmmmm, he didnt think so....
