KENYATTA UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ASSOCIATION OFFICE OF PRESIDENT RE: STRIKE UPDATE As we are all aware, this is the 6th day since the strike by teaching & non teaching staff started. At a national level, the Chairpersons of the Student Councils met & resolved to engage individual Vice Chancellors & the government for resolution. Today Morning, the Vice Chancellors committee from all public Universities are meeting to try and resolve the matter. We will give you an update on the proceedings. And later issue a response in the press. We remain very disappointed with the slow response from the government and especially the parent ministry of Education. After listening to both parties, we believe the stalemate can be resolved through coordinated dialogue which is not forthcoming. We agreed to secure the basic facilities in school and we believe this is so done as we await to go back to class. CLOSURE OF UNIVERSITY: There is no directive from the Ministry of Education to close the University. Ignore any text to that effect TIME LOST: We have agreed that any time lost will be recovered through mechanisms that will be generated. EXAM: There is no formal discussion on the postponement of exams. where need arises we shall discuss and formally communicate. I have not send out any text message and anything carrying my name to that effect is untrue. MISSED CATS: We have agreed that once normalcy resumes missed CATS will be taken care of. Kindly not that some CATS are being administered depending on individual class arrangement. We believe the status as it is can allow us to continue being in school.
