KHMER’S HOPE AND FUTURE DEPENDING ON THE CLOWN LAW MAKERS - TopicsExpress

KHMER’S HOPE AND FUTURE DEPENDING ON THE CLOWN LAW MAKERS For the past few days after Cambodian Parliamentary members sworn in, if you read the news or watching video clip from the parliamentary in session; you will see the rapid fires between the two ruling parties talking to each other condescending tone and finger pointing each other without finding the real solution. CONFLICT IS WITHIN US, IT IS PART OF HUMAN NATURE; IT IS RESPONSE ACTIONS OF THE NEGATIVE FEELINGS. If you ask yourself, have ever you feel sad, happy, anger etc? What did you do with those feelings? What are the normal responses to those feelings? Conflict arrived from negative feelings. THE QUESTION IS HOW DO WE RESOLVE CONFLICT TO FIND BETTER SOLUTION? If you ask ordinary citizen, how many people had conflict in the past, I am sure most of them will tell you they had conflict with someone in the past whether argument with their siblings, friends or a complete strangers, unless they are avoider then they usually walked away feeling unsatisfied or upset because they didn’t express their feelings. Conflict is not going away if you hide, avoid and walked away especially if you working together; conflict needed to be dealt with otherwise you will see the never ending story. Conflict is emotion feelings when people express their negative feelings. Conflict is also opportunity to build stronger relationship, it is opportunity to change the course of actions, it is opportunity to understand how other felt. If Cambodian leaders don’t know how to handle conflict, how will you lead the country to prosperity? How will you protect the sovereignty from foreign invaders? While Cambodian poor struggle to keep their home, their lands, foods on the table, and finding jobs to support their families. The law makers supposed to represent the people struggles to put their egos aside work for the national interests. Their actions shown lack of sincere commitment working together to find peaceful solution. Their lack of skills in conflict resolution in finding peaceful solution or avoid dealing with the problem will only make thing worse and the Cambodian people is the one that suffers most. It is like in a divorce, children are the one get caught in the middle of the conflict when both parents cannot find peaceful solution. Let me reminded all parliamentarian members that you were elected to represent Cambodian where over 14 millions depending on the government to pass new laws amends the constitution to move the country forward into the right direction. As both parties claimed to be highly educated individuals with experiences dealing with the public; I cannot grasp the action taken by the opposition or the ruling party how they deal with conflict. As the video clip shown Mr. Cheang Vun; your statement called Khmer people “Phnong” in derogator manner is unacceptable. These types of behavior of name calling, labeling and language used toward minority group needed to be stopped. These are Cambodian people whether they are poor, from small tribe, village, farmers etc. they deserves full respect and the same equal right as others protect under the constitution. Cambodian used this negative connotation word “Phnong” to describe someone as dummy or doesn’t have manner, illiterate, ignorance etc. Whenever, Khmer called somebody of Vietnamese decent as “Youn”, CPP quickly demanded apology and demanded them to call “Vietnamese” instead of the word Youn”. I realized you are frustrated and angry but remember you are a public figure, therefore be mindful of your conducts; I didn’t vote for you but I know other people might have voted you in office to represent the CPP members. The chairman of the parliament should have controlled situation when member speaks out of anger or talking down at others. Avoid conflict will only build up more resentments among each other. Imagine, as leader you cannot resolve your own conflict and keep run away from conflict what will happen in the future when you deal with real conflict of foreign invaders? Do you run away or avoiding conflict? I also wanted CNRP parliamentarian to understand that you must have thicker skin because you are public figure especially the one who leads the parliamentarian members to walk out from the meeting. Your action was base on your emotional feeling; you have to learn how to regulate your feelings quickly. You have shown the public that you cannot stand in a heated argument or conflict and your style of leadership is retreat or avoidance. How can you lead other people or the country if you are afraid to face conflict by taking the avoidance action of walking away or get upset easily just because someone talking disrespectfully? How can you lead Cambodian to better future when the real battle comes from foreign aggression? Let me remind CNRP parliamentary members why you need to have thicker skin since you choose to join the parliamentary already. Your leader made a conscious decision to join the parliamentary which I respect his decision because it is the right decision although many supporters cried with disappointments. Let examines the law of 50 plus 1 in affect. In 2006, there was an amendment to the constitution of 50 plus 1 rather than 2/3 majority vote in order to pass the law in the parliament. How can CNRP parliamentarian member’s response to the needs of the Khmer people to amend the law especially the Court System, Election (NEC), Land Title issues, Immigration issues, etc. You must be able to work cross party line in order to pass any bills into law. We know for sure if CPP wanted to introduce a new bill; it will pass without any problem because they have the number to pass the law. Will they introduce any new bill for the national interests? I doubt it. Will they support CNRP bills? I don’t think so if you shown them your behavior this way toward conflict. It was a great opportunity for you to resolve conflict yet you choose to walk away. You cannot regulate your emotion therefore you cannot find ways to resolve conflicts and strengthen the relationship when opportunity present to you. How can you win some of the CPP support if you cannot find solution to conflicts? You have to look at conflict as opportunity to change or strengthen the relationship. Remember, after heavy rain the sky will be cleared. You got to let it rains so that the sky will be cleared. Don’t walk away from conflict without resolving it; this is not personal, it is people business. You are there to work for the national interests of Cambodia. In America, we have two major parties (Republican and Democrat) that fight and scream at each other during election but they work together during congressional meeting to pass different laws for the national interests of the country regardless of party affiliation. My hope Cambodian politicians will rise to that level regardless if they are CPP, the ruling party or CNRP the opposition party. We have to find solution to the conflict and learn to face conflict and resolve it peacefully. Conflict is within us all; it is part of human nature, Cambodian politicians need to learn how to deal with conflict and find ways to heal because millions of Khmer lives depending on them.
