Firefighters were successful with their efforts in constructing additional containment lines in Div 1Y and 1Z down to the Rubicon River. A substantial demobilization of resources began today while maintaining adequate resources to meet the incident objectives. Current Situation Zone 2: Fire activity diminished in Zone 2 today as a cold front moved through producing steady showers with rain totals reaching up to ¾” with pockets up to 1”. The observed fire activity was minimal with smoldering in interior pockets of the heavier fuels. The rain began to move out of the area around 3:00 PM followed by clear skies. Due to a diminished threat to communities some fire resources have been demobilized. The fire maintains an adequate amount of resources to meet incident objectives. The Completion of containment lines continues to be coordinated between Zones 1 and Zones 2. Mandatory evacuation orders have been lifted for the Quintette and Volcanoville communities but an evacuation advisory remains in effect. Slab Creek Road has been re-opened and the Forebay Road closure point has been moved to the forest boundary allowing all residences to return. The King Fire is being managed in Unified Command with Eldorado National Forest, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and CAL FIRE. The Federal Team CIIMT 5 (Jim Giachino) is managing Zone 1 (northern portion) of the fire, and CAL FIRE IMT 5 (Kevin Smith) is managing Zone 2 (southern portion) of the fire. Evacuation Shelter Location: The evacuation shelter is located at the Camino Seventh-day Adventist Church at 3520 Carson Road in Camino. El Dorado County Information Hotline: The hotline will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. Voicemail is available on weekends and outside of the hotline hours.
