KUDOS TO YOU NOW HIS EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT OF NUGS Prosper Dzitse Wins 2014 NUGS Presidential Election Posted on September 22, 2014 by ADMINISTRATOR Leave a comment Rate This Prosper DzitseMaster Prosper Dzitse has won the much anticipated National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), election after pulling a slim victory over keen competitor, Kofi Asamoah of NAFTI at the just ended National delegates congress. The election was held on Monday at the Akrokerri College of Education in Kumasi. Mr. Dzitse polled a total vote of 238 as against Kofi Asamoah’s 223. For the position of General Secretary, Iddi Muhayu-Deen of the University of Education Winneba, Kumasi, won convincingly with 254 votes as against his two competitors, James Attoh (UG) and Eunice Boatemah’s (UDS Tamale) 88 and 119 votes respectively. The position of Coordinating Secretary was won by Ofei Dei Goodfellow. She polled a total of 115 votes against Selasi Fiawornu’s 87. Other results are as follows: Treasurer Ruby Gyimah (UEW-Kumasi) – 216 Eric Kobina Koomson (JAYEE) – 151 Eric Sepenu Afli (UG) – 99 Press and Information Secretary Rhoda Efe Eshun (GBUC) – 246 Amadu Baba Suleman (UENR) – 61 Bilkis Nuhu Kokroko (GIJ) – ?? Programmes and Projects Secretary Daniel Okyere (UPSA) - ?? Kwesi Yamoah Abaidoo (UENR) – ?? Benjamin Asare kwaku (UG) – 196 Women’s Commissioner Iris Kwafo-Mensah (KNUST) – 234 Grace Amponsah Asante (JAYEE) – 229 Financial Controller Raymond Awonatetuaka Achiyaale (UCC) – 223 Rejoice Akrasie (UPSA) – 241 International Relations Officer Yakubu Yusuf Tobor (KNUST) – ?? Judith Arhin (UDS – WA) – ?? Asiedu Boakye Oheneba (UG) – ?? Anthony Akanvariwen Abavelim – (UDS-NAVRONGO) – ?? The position of Education and Democratization Secretary which was contested unopposed was won by Nii Amponsah Harold of the University of Ghana. Meanwhile, some local executives of the KNUST branch of the National Union of Ghana Students were on Saturday involved in a fatal motor accident that resulted in the death of their bus driver with 10 others severely injured. The executives were on their way to the NUGS congress when the vehicle they were traveling on had a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle on the Kumasi-Obuasi road.
